Many Hospitals and a few clinics have “hardship programs", "charity care”, or other forms of financial aid for those who need care but cannot pay, this is often approached to you by a social worker upon visitation of the hospital (with clinics you must call to ask).In many cases this can severely reduce the amount owed to the hospital/clinic.
